Please don't be hip, bishop, and other thoughts
An entertaining and restrained (though not, I should warn you, ecumenical) rant: Am I the Only Young American Catholic Who Thinks This Is Kinda Stupid? about the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops using imagery from The Matrix to advertise the priesthood. And while I'm at it:
- he offers an interesting suggestion for schooling in locality idea #1.
- and in Dreher vs. Goldberg an interesting reflection on our contiributing editor Rod Dreher's description of "crunchy cons."
- and a pointed question about the relation of the Republican Party and conservatism — not nearly, he and I would agree, as close as some people think — in conservatives and reps.
I'll stop now. The writer, a J. B. Watson, makes his points quickly, which is a virtue.
