Thomas Farr, author of World of Faith and Freedom: Why International Liberty Is Vital to American National Security, (reviewed in Touchstone July/August 2009) is also associate professor of religion and international affairs at Georgetown University and former director of the State Department’s Office of International Religious Freedom. On PBS's Religion & Ethic Newsweekly he discusses the following, which is troubling:
A 1998 law mandates that the US government have an Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom to advance religious liberty around the world as part of American foreign policy. But the Obama administration still has not appointed anyone to this post, even though in his landmark speech to the Muslim world from Cairo in June 2009 President Obama said religious freedom is an American priority.
Priorities are things you make sure you do, so is it?
Why does this news not surprise me?

Obama's concern for freedom of religion extends about as far as his concern that association with Jeremiah Wright boost his hometown political connections without rendering him nationally unelectable. The man is fundamentally irreligious and has only lied to suggest otherwise.
