A woman was impaled by a falling tree branch during the wind storms in Chicagoland, but was saved by Good Samaritan, Connie Odoms, who explained why she stopped, called 911, and stayed with the victim, while others passed by; a few even stopped before she helped, took pictures with their cell phones, then left the woman. Here's the video.
I simply find it incomprehensible that ANYONE would "pass by on the other side" in such a situation, if for no nobler a reason than a self-centered hope to be fêted and praised should a news van chase the ambulance.
When we won't do good for even our own vain-glory, what does that make us - a LOT lower than animals?

You think that one is bad, I saw a video from some street camera, a woman was beaing repeatedly stabbed, it went on for minutes, and you could see people just walking by, maybe rubber necking, but it was a looong time before someone tried to drive away her attacker and offer aid.

I think we shouldn't be to harsh in condemning those that did not help, as we don't know their circumstances or how they perceived the accident. For us it may seem a very black and white situation permitting us to judge the heart of those that drove by, but as hard to imagine as it is, we don't know if they were even aware someone was injured or that they could in any way help if there were.
What the woman who helped did is praiseworthy, but we are not in a position to condemn those who drove on.
