From Cranmer blog: the dropping of Christian names from organizations. Well, if the organization is no longer Christian, fine. But there's more in the story--Christian-based charities adopting more "neutral" names to get funding. Can members of an organization say, "We are followers of Jesus Christ, whom we revere as Lord and Savior"? For that matter, how many "church" leaders or even local churches want to put that out there boldly, publicly? However, speaking of bold and public, a Chicago-area Methodist church publicly uses the name of Jesus without shame, and has placed ads on CTA trains, stating that "Jesus was radically inclusive." And they are too, in case you are looking for an inclusive church. You know where the rest of that goes. "No man comes to the Father but by me" is not likely their favorite verse. Nor is Revelation 21:6-8, which they must excise from their nuanced Bibles. Jesus is indeed a radical--to everyone.
