It is surely true that there have always been sexual perversions and perverts with us, so why the big deal about it now? Hasn't it always been the same? Well, one might argue that our bodies of full of viruses but that doesn't mean the body has to become sick with each one of them--they are held in check by certain antibodies--but when these fail and a virus reaches critical mass the whole body becomes sick.
If sexual practices have been roughly the same from generation to generation, then what need was there for the invention of sexology and research that was designed to persuade scholars, lawmakers, and average citizens that sex outside of marriage and with minors wasn't all that harmful? (Remember the trope that getting upset about sex with minors would be more upsetting to the minor than the alleged abuse?). Why in the world did we think there WAS a sexual revolution if nothing really changed? What was all that about? Was it fabricated, just like the 1969 lunar landing was allegedly fabricated in that fantasy film? Everything after the Sexual Revolution was really mostly the same as before, only we didn't know it? Was its accomplishment that it helped people stop feeling guilty about all the sexual acts they were going to do anyway?
I write this as long preface to this link to a review of Judith Reisman's book, Sexual Sabotage. I've dealt with Dr. Reisman in working with Salvo. I find the sexual revolution one of the most difficult of topics because it's about things that most people assume are "just the way things are"--e.g., the right to produce, distribute, and sell pornography in the open, and the right for nearly naked men to parade downtown while local TV and radio stations invite you to bring your family to see what the "pride" event is all about. This, for children? Oh, I forgot. Kids are not hurt by such things, but are at risk only if their [neanderthal fundamentalist] parents "get upset."
Yep.
No doubt the Sodomites thought they were enlightened too. Didn't Lot's daughters get him drunk and take advantage of him? Wasn't Lot willing to toss his virgin daughters to the wolves rather than let them molest his male guests? Evil society and bad parenting even then.
A shame so many in the Church view Genesis as a fable and Jesus' prophecy (Matt 10-11) as simply "moral" teaching. Were Abram to again ask for mercy for the sake of five righteous men, would He find them today?
