According to the headline in the Telegraph, Christopher Hitchens could be 'saved' by evangelical Christian. "Saved" in the sense of having his life extended some by beating his cancer. Not "saved" in the theological sense. The Christian is Francis Collins. Life extension has been the goal of trillions of dollars spent, but death itself remains the final enemy. It has already been defeated, but too many of us prefer to try to do it ourselves, or just deny that we even care about it, or that there is anything that can be done. Hitchens is wagering that when he's dead, he won't be around to notice. Well, it is good to pray for the salvation of all. God desires the loss of no one.
There is nothing painful in this world than loosing the one that you cared for. Though there are times that we prefer not to exist but despite this there are still people that cares for us. These people are the one's that we have touched their lives in our own little way. There is nothing more fulfilling than to be the person that we are.

Why don't the evangelicals leave Mr. Hitchens alone? He doesn't want their efforts, whether theological or medical.

98989, I think you missed the point - the article says that the doctor who mapped out the genetic code is Evangelical, but said doctor did not seek to change Hitchens' view on Christianity. It's just one of those ironic stories. They asked Mr. Hitchens if he wanted to have the DNA in his tumor mapped, and he agreed.

Someone call the police, here comes the big, bad, Evangelical medicine man. Pity poor Mr Hitchens, he's become "friends" with this monster, soon he'll turn into a zombie.
