This really is a fascinating article in the NYT about research and findings about the effects of sitting and inactivity, what allows some people not to gain weight even when they eat more, and what the effects of sitting can be on the effectiveness of insulin's ability to take up glucose in the body. Maybe I am drawn to the article at the moment because my legs are feeling the effects of sitting in an airplane for two and half hours before take off (high winds in Dallas, plus a presidential flight to Chicago had closed down O'Hare), and now another two hours and more in flight and taxiing before I can really start moving. As I said, it's fascinating research, and perhaps it will be useful. I am going to try to be even more active even when I sit....
